My colleague Daniella and I were heading out to leave for the day, and we were greeted in
the car park by a family member of a gentleman we supported in his end-of-life journey. We
were familiar with his daughter as we care for one of her friends. When it was time for Dad
to start receiving care, we were her first choice, the relationships were already there.
We supported this ladies Dad, in the most traumatic and painful time, and yet she wanted to
share with us how peaceful and how comfortable we made it for her dad.
We talked for a while.
“Your model just works Maddy. The fact that your office team deliver care, and can be hands
on, makes everything so much easier to communicate, because they understand. They have
compassion. Your carers are all so well picked, whatever you do with your recruitment – it
works”.
“The Vicar came and Ann, your carer, was there, we didn’t think Dad was understanding of
the Vicar being there, but hearing him say Amen as he finished his prayer was something I
will always hold on too.”
Having some time to reflect on what makes Love2Care work, I know it’s the team, the
compassion they have, the values we share, and the togetherness we practice.
